There is a spring in the west of England that has never stopped flowing, not in two thousand years, not through empire or war or forgetting. The people who lived there first called her Sulis, and they believed the water itself was her eye, open and watching, holding both healing and reckoning in the same current. When the Romans came, they did not erase her. They knelt beside her waters and gave her a new name, Sulis Minerva, because some power is too old and too true to override.
